Did you find it useful?

YouTube video

Yes, it does, and I was surprised at how much better image quality. Here is a comparison of a photo uploaded with two different settings.

I cropped out the puffin that is part of a larger photograph so you can see the details. The example on the left was loaded with a dark longer border size of 1096 pixels using a color profile of Adobe RGB (1998). You can see that the colors are washed out a bit, especially around the eye. The image also loses sharpness drastically.

Follow upload guidelines

Instagram has very specific upload guidelines to maintain consistency throughout the app and to provide all users with a streamlined browsing experience and fluid. If you follow these guidelines, Instagram will not reduce the size of your photos and there will be no compression during upload. These are the basic guidelines for any type of cargo.

Edit photos on your phone for better photo quality

All major smartphones have photo editing options that you can apply to photos in your camera roll. Open the image you want to edit and click the edit button on the phone screen. You should see a series of edits that you can make to your image. The most important edits to quality are sharpness and definition.

The Sharpness slider emphasizes the texture of the photo. Be carefull with that. It can easily ruin your photo. Move this slider as small as possible. Move it to a point where the results are not too clear in the big picture. Use the Definition slider in the same way.

Resolution

Resolution describes the number of horizontal lines in your video file in each frame. Shown width by height. The lower the resolution, the smaller the file size. So a resolution of 1366×768 means there are 768 horizontal lines, each 1366 pixels wide. Below are some common screen resolutions for digital devices. The lower the screen resolution, the smaller the file size.

Common screen resolutions: 1920×1080, 1366×768, 1280×1024, 1280×800, and 1024×768.
