The legendary Bond video game GoldenEye 007 is coming to Nintendo Switch Online and Xbox Game Pass.
As first announced during the latest Nintendo Direct broadcast, the Nintendo 64 classic is coming soon to the console’s Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Switch Online service. Microsoft also confirmed the news today (September 13) that a 4K resolution remaster is on the way to Xbox Game Pass.
GoldenEye 007 XBLA compared to the original Nintendo 64 and 2010 Wii version
The canceled XBLA release of GoldenEye 007 wasn’t a complete disaster for James Bond fans. After all, the Nintendo Wii version of GoldenEye Reloaded came out in 2010, with Daniel Craig’s likeness added to the game. But how does the original N64 version of GoldenEye 007 compare to this new XBLA version and the only other version released?
Well, nothing will replace the classic N64. It’s a groundbreaking entry into the video game pantheon. Sounds pretentious? Well, but it really is that good, important and innovative. So many FPS releases that followed owe a lot to GoldenEye 007 on Nintendo 64. The Wii version does a good job, but it lacks the pulsing gravitas of the Daniel Craig era it tries to represent.
