The end of new jack swing
Like the Motown sound was the soundtrack to the American youth during the 60s, the new jack swing was and a lot between 1986 and 1994. But what happened to disco music: its success fell to the record companies to publish vulgar Imitations and to Holywood to shamelessly exploit its aesthetics in movies like New Jack City, House Party, Boomerang, Mo’ money or series for tvvision with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
The new Jack-Swing has emerged in today’s spaces: cinema, television, radio, MTV… Together they will kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.
