The developer created other textures using procedural textures. To prevent the game from looking too different, the developer used the procedural color scheme, so the new textures have similar colors to the default textures. This makes it possible to use Patrix with existing maps without making them look weird. Using different tools to automate some of the work, Patrix made it possible to introduce photorealistic textures throughout the game. Most resource packs typically replace 30-50% of Minecraft textures. It is recommended to use the Patrix resource pack with Optifine HD. It uses some of Optifine’s features to make specific things work. For example, some blocks have several different textures and this feature only works with Optifine. This feature makes it possible to create more varied environments. Lighting also plays an important role. Patrix requires the SEUS PTGI shader package, which can be installed like any other shader package. The Patrix texture pack only works with SEUS PTGI because other shaders do not have the features Patrix needs. With the help of the shadow pack and the higher resolution of the game’s textures, shadows now look much sharper. The resource pack is available in 3 different resolutions. There is a 32x, 128x and 256x version. The 256x resolution version of the Patrix resource pack is resource intensive, and difficulties can arise even on modern computers. Gamers with extreme frame rate drops are recommended to use the 128x version. The developer also made a 32x low resolution version which is still better than vanilla Minecraft which uses 16x textures. One thing to note is that Patrix is constantly receiving updates from the developer. To fund their efforts to improve the resource pack, a Patreon page was created, giving all paying members access to both 128x and 256x versions of the resource pack. It also comes with additional perks such as Patreon-exclusive developer updates and early previews. The 32x version of the resource pack is available to everyone for free.
