The Prince Estate has been eagerly taking pre-orders from eager fans of The Beautiful Ones ahead of its official release on Tuesday, October 29, 2019. Prince began work on the memoir and completed approximately 30 pages with author Dan Piepenbring shortly. before her death on April 21, 2016.

The first part of The Beautiful Ones reflects the handwritten pages Prince wrote for the book. Readers will also find rare snapshots, paper drafts, and drawings destined to make The Beautiful Ones a collector’s item.

The Original Edition

A Master Edition is usually refers to a vinyl record made from the initial batch of lacquers in the production process, cut from the original master recordings. Being the first albums to be released, many consider them the definitive release and the best-sounding albums. Then they can get editions 2, 3 and 4, etc. if the record is popular and they continue to make copies of the record. These additional pressings can be created with other paints when the first set is gone. The more the original master tapes are used, the more likely they are to wear out, so in theory later pressings may not be of the same quality. It’s all open to interpretation as to how much quality is lost during these processes, and different people will give you different answers.

A reissue is a record that has been re-released, usually some time after the album was originally produced. That’s why you get so many reissues of classic albums like The Beatles, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, etc. The big difference is that reissues don’t necessarily have to use the same original master recordings to create them. Variations can come from the source of the masters, the packaging, and even the thickness and type of vinyl used. Reissues may, in some cases, contain different tracks or bonus material compared to the original release.
