I started co-op play with Liu Kang because I preferred his intuitive combat moves, but when I did this single player game, I chose Kung Lau and I learned to appreciate his style over Liu Kang’s in the long run. I must explain that this game offers some game modes for one or two players. There is the single player game, the cooperative and the versus. And because Midway is so good to you, there’s an unlockable demo of The Suffering: Ties That Bind and an unlockable full version of Mortal Kombat II to take home.
Unfortunately, when playing the single player game, another character cannot intervene at any time. Instead, to play a cooperative game, you need to switch to cooperative mode, where you can only play a two-player game and the other person cannot opt out. The point is that you can play in any mode, and that’s a good thing. The single player game is easier than the co-op game, which makes sense, but about halfway through the game the difficulty level takes a big jump and starts to challenge your “skills”, which I purposely quoted because that’s not always necessarily what it is you must win this game.
