Originally from Las Vegas, the Imagine Dragons quartet began their journey in 2008; After the publication of several EPs, in 2012 they released their first album, which includes some of the songs already included in said EPs. Its overwhelming sound, with very marked percussion, makes its songs sink in with just one listen. Dan Reynolds’ “gritty” voice blends beautifully with a slight edge to early Coldplay, Symphonic Rock Reminiscences, or even “scents” of Simple Minds; in this his first full length presenting a collection of irreproachable songs, for my taste one of the greatest debut albums of the entire 21st century. First single songs, from “Radioactive” to “Hear Me”, constituting seven cannon shots without a solution of continuity, which more than justifies their appearance on the music scene through the front door.
Among others, Imagine Dragons, Bono and Company had already begun are an interpreter of the magic of U2, Chris Martin is a convinced Coldplay turned into the world group, Arcade Fire were still somewhat marginal… well, it seemed that there was a vacancy for a band of this style (let’s call it stadium rock), and that a promising future awaited them.
