Half-Life: Blue Shift is the second official commercial expansion for Valve Software’s groundbreaking 1998 first-person shooter. It’s worth noting that Half-Life publisher Sierra Studios has adopted the Half-Life branding. Life for many other products, including the “Platinum” and “Game of the Year” remastered editions of the original game, and also helped promote (and sell) fan-created Half-Life mods, including last year’s Gunman Chronicles and the mod Extremely popular multiplayer Counter-Strike. Blue Shift was developed by Gearbox Software, the same team that brought you the excellent expansion for Half-Life Opposing Force in 1999, in which you play as one of the commandos sent to breathe to Gordon Freeman, the protagonist of the original game. Blue Shift itself was originally developed as add-on content for Half-Life for the Sega Dreamcast, but sadly that console was discontinued earlier this year.
About Half-Life: Opposing Force
Half-Life: Opposing Force is an expansion pack for the science fiction first-person shooter Half-Life from Valve Software. The general gameplay of Opposing Force is not very different from that of Half-Life. Players must navigate the game’s levels, fight enemy non-player characters, and solve a variety of puzzles to advance. The game continues Half-Life’s non-stop storytelling methods. The player views everything through the protagonist’s first-person perspective and remains in control of the player character for most of the game. The events of the story are conveyed through the use of scripted sequences instead of cutscenes.
Note: First, make sure you have the original Half-Life installed on your computer.
