Complete Mediafire REM Discography: Download All Albums Now
It’s shocking how easily a band’s reputation can be shattered by one or two bad albums, especially when you consider how easy it is to click a link on Mediafire and download anything you want in a matter of minutes. I’m as guilty as anyone. I have no expectations of the new Interpol album and I may not even listen to it. I know this is ridiculous. But Our Love to Admire destroyed the goodwill their first two albums created and now I just don’t care. It’s strange to think of it in those terms, but digital distribution has changed music in ways we can’t even fully understand right now. I’m a kid of that generation, not even a teenager, when Napster came along and changed everything in music.
However, I’m not too young to forget to enjoy albums once they come out. The first album I bought shaped my understanding of music and helped nurture the innate love that endures to this day. I was six years old and R.E.M. They were one of the biggest bands in the world. It’s often assumed that Nirvana would be bigger, but they weren’t: In Utero didn’t really budge until Cobain committed suicide. Nevermind was supposed to be a godsend until what happened in his greenhouse. The only band really connected to R.E.M. At the time, Pearl Jam, which was actually selling more records, and R.E.M. they were so much better. The deal they signed with Warner was unprecedented and similar to Sonic Youth’s deal with Geffen. They had almost total creative control.
100: The Flamin’ Groovies: Supersnazz (design by Cyril Jordan)
Great comic art by bandleader Cyril Jordan appears on numerous covers and posters for The Flamin’ Groovies emerged over the decades. When he debuted in 1969, the playful characters were there to remind you how much fun rock and roll should be.
